Biography of the art of the show

On May 23, the legendary jazz clarinetist and Bander leader Artie Shaw was born in New York-Artie Shaw-art sho in Russian publications is more likely to write the art of the show, but we suggest using the option closer to English pronunciation. Artho could never be fully satisfied with what he did, and constantly dissolved popular bands in search of something even more interesting and present, not wanting to rest on the laurels of commercial success.

He grew up in New Hayven, Connecticut, where his family moved in the year. Even during his studies in high school, he began playing a saxophone in local groups, and his professional debut took place in the year in the Johnny Cavallaro dance band. Kavallaro art and added to the saxophone Claret. In the year, Sho decided to move away from music, dreaming of writing a book, but soon he had nothing to live on, and everything returned to his circles.

Arts struck the audience with the performance of its own composition on the clarinet, accompanied by a string quartet and rhythm-section without piano, which was then a sensation for swing music. Then he used the same concept, creating his first orchestra - he only added the first line in the style of a dixiland, but with only one saxophone, and a vocalist, retaining string instruments.

This orchestra of art became one of the most popular groups in the world-then it was salted by tenor-saxophonist George Old, vocalists Helen Forrest and Tony Pastor, whose manner was successfully resembled on something between Louis Armstrong and Louis Prima, and Baddy Rich sat behind the drums. For several months, Bandy included Billy Holide, like Benny Gudman, sho challenged the prejudices that reigned at that time and was one of the first to invite black performers to his groups, but her voice remained only on their entry - “Any Old Time”.

Already in December, the year, disappointed in show business and the unsightly features of his commercial side, sho again decided to quit everything and went to live in Mexico. However, two months later he returned - and on the first record he again collected a very large string section. The result was another megachit, “frenesi” - it seemed that the art seemed to be not getting away from success.

The trumpeter Billy Batterfield and pianist Johnny Guarneri played in his third permanent orchestra - in this composition, Sho recorded one of his most beautiful versions of Stardust and the very exquisite “Concerto For Clarinet Concert”. He fulfilled with his Big Band, which became the already famous “Clarnet concert” and received two Oscar nominations: for the best music for the film and for the best song “The Love of My Love”.

But despite success and recognition, in the year, Sho dismissed his band - to collect a new one later in the same year.

Biography of the art of the show

And after the tragic events in Pearl Harbor, he was drafted into the army, where he gathered a naval orchestra, with which, unfortunately, he did not make a single record. Being released from the service for health reasons in February, Artho organized a new orchestra - with Roem Elridge, Dodo Marmoroza and Barney Kessel. Together they managed to create a completely new style in which the influence of Bop was already strongly felt.

But at the very sunset of the swing era, at the beginning of the year, sho abandoned his next brainchild and for several years did not engage in music seriously, sometimes trying something in jazz, and more often in classical music and “third course”. His last attack on the Big Bande Front was already a very “boopy” orchestra of the year, which lasted only a few months and which included Saxor Sut Sour, El Kon and the trumpet of Don Fagerquist.

Their really relevant, “advanced” music inevitably became commercial fiasco, once again convincing the art of the inability to engage in show business in that you really like it. They actively recorded - until in the year sho had abandoned his clarinet finally. He went to live in Spain in order to finally get rid of everything that he hated so much in the musical business, and to do what he considered real creativity - writing work.

Despite the fact that Artho regularly declared his hatred of show business and all the time tried to “escape” from commercial success, which, from his point of view, did not allow, to engage in serious, real creativity, he still continued to try and look. And with the same “constancy” and perseverance with which he collected and dissolved the bands, art regularly married and divorced.

His stories of 8 marriages were tiredly discussed by all tabloids, but in his semi -autobiographical, semi -finished book “The Troble with Cinderella”, the year himself did not spill the New World either on the vicinity of his personal life, nor on his equally intricate musical career. Artho Shaw died on December 30 at the age of 94. While Duke Ellington and County Bacei quite enjoyed his life, leading one superband throughout the era of swing, and Benny Gudman-two, art sho gathered five excellent orchestras, each of which became somewhat special and memorable.Perhaps sho was just too large a perfectionist who sought out what in reality could not be.

But the very persistence of his searches and that, in spite of everything, the excellent music that turned out along the way, cannot but admire. Art of the sho was a wonderful, seeking, experimenting musician and virtuoso, inventive clarinetist with exquisite phrases. Many gave the palm of the championship that seemed more “hot” Benny Gudman - but is it possible to compare legends at all?

They are created to listen, inspire - and transmit them further.
