Lev Poster biography

Selected work in the exposition, I would not say that it is important for me to work in series. Rather, I would say that it is common for me to work in series. When my independent work began in X, I immediately began to do a series. And this was not a choice. At that time, I generally acted spontaneously. In general, the series does not imply completion. You can return to any series endlessly.

I have never been a real surrealist, but sometimes I willingly used these techniques in my work. Surrealism is the most attractive and most influential course of the twentieth century. Lev Poster is a Russian artist, painter, poet. Born in the year in Moscow. From childhood, he was fond of drawing, went to the art studio, then continued his studies at the Moscow City Art School.

He dreamed of becoming an illustrator of books, which would make it possible to combine the two main passions - literature and drawing. After school, he served in the army. S. studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute at the Faculty of Art and Graphic; He worked at the same time under contracts in publishing houses. After the institute, he got a job as an artist at the Sanprosvet Publishing House, which specialized in products for a clinic.

For many years, up to perestroika, he was engaged in teaching - he gave lessons to children and adults both private, and in an art school, and in the Palace of Culture. The formation of Leo Poster as an artist is rooted in the middle of the X, when he becomes part of the art underground of Moscow. As a child, he met Alexander Vasiliev, the future bookseller, art dealer and collector of unofficial art, who later discovered Vladimir Yakovlev and Vladimir Pyatnitsky for him.

Later he began to communicate closely with Leonid Purygin. In the middle of X began to create the first independent work. From a year, he was friends and exhibited with Evgeny Izmailov and Mikhail Roginsky. B and took part in two apartment exhibitions. In those years, Poster was passionate about the art of old European masters, wrote with water paints and a tempor to Levkas on special planks.

Together with Roginsky and Izmailov, they created small in size, the so -called “retro”, on the basis of disappointments in the Moscow underground and in contemporary art as a whole. In parallel, it was interested in primitive art, Lubka and Kitch. In the year, with the little Retro, he took part in the exhibition of works by Moscow artists in the Pavilion of the House of Culture VDNH.

For a year, he took part in the general autumn-spring exhibitions of the city committee of graphs in the hall in the Malaya Georgian, as well as in the expositions of the group “21”. At the end, X changes the manner of writing, leaves “minor tonality and slow labor”, and begins to work quickly, where rapid patterns and painting allow you to finish work in an hour. Having come up with playwright, the type of comedy del arte with various characters and animals, creates the series “Circus” in the middle - the end of X and “Rights” e.

At the end of X stops teaching, starting cooperation with the Moscow Palette gallery. In the 10th years, almost ten years, he worked in a workshop in Bolshoi Sukharevsky Lane, considering this the best time in his life. In X created a series of "grass", in E - "Spiegel", from the year it works on the cycle "Field of Miracles". From the year he began to write poetry. He was married to sculptor Valeria Dobrokhotova, they have two children - Maria and Alexander.
