Lily Palmer biography

Her music is a mixture of incredible energy and power with a sensual atmosphere, and its releases on the labels of Drumcode, Octopus, Spannung gain millions of auditions. After Lilly arrived in Russia, we talked with her and found out what difficulties women are faced with, how to cope with the hat on the Internet, what she listens in addition to electronics and what Russian dish conquered her heart.

I was interested in music since childhood, and fortunately, my parents insisted that I go to learn to play the piano. Later, when I was at school, my friends introduced me to minimal-techno, and I immediately fell in love. I studied DJing, watching online Tutorials, and sometimes my manager Karl helped me. I always admired Adriatique and Oliver Rings. At the beginning of my career, I liked atmospheric and melodic techno more, and now I enjoy more energetic music.

I am very impressive, the living, “raw” sound of Adam Beir and Marco Carola. And, of course, my colleague Egbert influenced me most of all. He is one of the most creative people I know. Perhaps this will surprise you, but I also like Rock and Hevi-Metal. You immediately feel a completely different attitude towards you and often encounter negative ones. Women in DJing are observed more intently, we are constantly criticized, and they respect us less than men.

On the other hand, you clearly stand out among the mainly male community, and this can have its advantages. So you can attract attention and arouse interest in the audience. At the same time, faced with difficulties, I never thought about abandoning everything. It was difficult for me to decide to start a musical career, but as soon as I got a taste, it was already impossible to stop me.

Every day I get comments from haters. At first I read them, and I was offended, but now I no longer pay attention to it. I noticed that most often, when they write something nasty, it means they envy you and secretly want to do the same as you. Well, or just live an unhappy and lonely life, so they all fall out on the Internet. They can only regret them. I performed at the festival, and people did not like technology at all.

They began to leave, and I even thought at first that they were playing me. It was difficult for me to remain calm and continue to play, but what just does not happen at parties. But this summer in France I had one of the best shows. The video from there on Instagram, the social network was recognized as extremist and is banned in the Russian Federation and gained almost 50 million views.

I listen to meditative music and affirmations when I have stressful situations. And nature also helps me to cope with anxiety. I live right next to the beach and often walk for a long time to relax. Of course, my partner and family also support me. Music for me is a kind of therapy, my cat loves music! He is constantly with me in the studio when I write. He is not even confused by a very loud sound.

He is always next to me.

I specifically stayed two days longer after the performance to find out the city. My promoter showed me interesting places and restaurants where I tried insanely tasty dumplings. I liked to walk alone in Moscow and consider its unusual architecture. I hope that I will return to Russia again soon. Zaur Tedeev.
