The city is located on both banks of the Volga River: in memory of the history of the city, Levoberezhnaya part is called the Romanov side, and the right -bank - Borisoglebskaya. Although it is worth noting that up to the 18th century, settlements were independent and had their own administrations.

Tutaev was founded in the year, and on August 20, he celebrated the fly. Soon after the foundation, the city was destroyed by the Mongol-Tatars, and it had to be rebuilt. Local culturalists blame Yaroslavl in everything - they say, the heyday of the capital of the province interfered with the development of Tutaev. It remains to believe the word. But still, one interesting building on the right bank of the Volga can be found - this is a wooden residential building of the 20th century. It is located near the main temple of the city. The famous astronaut Yuri Malenchenko wanted to get married with his American wife in this provincial city.
